BODDIKA (Nonplus Records, London)
Electro? Techno? Old? New? Al Green has a habit of both reinventing himself and pushing boundaries. Boddika is inspired by Machine Music and influenced by a range of genres from old school hip hop and electro to Chicago house and Detroit techno and even taking in a bit of 80’s / 90’s dance. To say Green’s influences are varied would be an understatement and that certainly shows in his current productions: in his own words “I just do what I feel like doing when I’m in the studio, and that’s where the music comes from”. In short: it sounds like absolutely nothing else.
DE SLUWE VOS (Kontra, Amsterdam)
De Sluwe Vos (Dutch for 'The Sly Fox', a name derived from Aesop's fable of the Fox and the Crow) is the newest addition to the Dutch house and techno scene. With strong hooks and dirty kicks as his specialities, De Sluwe Vos has released multiple tracks on labels like 4Lux and Slapfunk. De Sluwe Vos mixes various styles to create his own 'signature sound' with which he manages to constantly keep himself at the center of attention.
NICOLAS LUTZ (My Own Jupiter, Berlin)
From Jupiter to Berlin and countless capitals in between, Nicolas Lutz has always operated best on the very outskirts of dance floor culture. A master of mystery and relentless seeker, his knack for unearthing precious gemstones -for immediate exploitation and then, slowly but surely, the greater good of the community- is uncanny, and its this insistence on clearing a path between the unknown and the utterly unexpected that elevate his sets into explorations of faraway lunar landscapes and charters through the depths of murky seas. Never one to compromise or contradict a steadfast musical philosophy, one only needs to see the owner of My Own Jupiter in action to understand the existence of his cult following.
