♦ Hardcell & Grindvik LIVE (Drumcode I Swe)
Enjoying life inspired by memories and music from the past, combining them with the progressing sound of techno. Pär Grindvik is an artist that always aims to compose music that keeps the aesthetics and underground culture alive. Thus, Pär Grindvik is one of the most promising names around today and one of the most respected producers out there!
Hardcell, aka Nils Danielsson, came in contact with electronic music as a young man in the early 90's and within short time he discovered techno. Inspired by the trax he heard and the spirit of techno parties, making music himself became the only natural progression. Since then, time has past and the last few years his output has been huge, counting roughly 60 releases and remixes on some of the most highly regarded labels on this planet.
Originally being a dj, Hardcell has also extended his range of performance to include a live PA, which is performed and constantly developed together with fellow swedish producer Pär Grindvik. Together they have already produced some memorable music on labels like Inside, Drumcode and Primate, with more to come.
♦ Dustin Zahn (Drumcode I US)
The story behind Dustin Zahn is not a particularly unique or exciting one. There are no breakthrough moments or mentors who have taken him under their wing. But since 1998, his work has put his career on a slow and steady ascent. Along the way, Dustin has gained over 10 years of experience and unrivaled musical diversity as both a producer and a performer. This alone has earned him respect among techno and house legends, purists, and contemporary DJs. He now performs regularly around the world at some of the most reputable clubs and festivals along with some dodgy, sleazy warehouses and beach parties in-between.
His DJ sets are much like his releases. "I like it dark enough for the boys, but groovy enough for the girls." With a preference for marathon sets and his laid-back approach to life and music, he seamlessly traverses through various genres which creates a unique, hypnotic vibe that isn't found among most DJs.
♦ Giles Smith & James Priestley (secretsundaze I UK)
One of the things that sets Giles Smith apart is his sense of house history. For two decades now has he been collecting records, initially with no desire to spin them in public whatsoever. The young Smith was simply obsessed with tracking down what he heard on the radio, clubs and mix tapes absorbing influences and inspiration without prejudice. A brotherly shove soon got him on the decks, though, and now, in 2013, all that early research is still paying off in dividends.
Most notably Smith, with partner James Priestley, transformed the face of London clubbing and influenced Sunday clubbing worldwide with the birth of his secretsundaze party over a decade ago. Since then it has become an ever more essential party for those in the know, with a quality, uncompromising, soundtrack that has influenced the scene at large no end. Now also encompassing a revered DJ Agency (The Secret Agency) assured label (secretsundaze records) and mix compilation series (the 1st edition in 2007 edition of which was mixed live at home sans any computer trickery by Giles), the brand spreads far and wide with events in Tokyo, Barcelona, New York, Berlin and Croatia to name a few.
James has a distinct djing style, playing broadly what you would describe as deep House & Techno, often borrowing from his freestyle background, preferring to move things around rather than follow one linear groove. You will also notice James' solid musical background in his sets and productions usually favouring strong melodies and warm, organic sounds. His style hasn't gone unnoticed and he regularly plays some of the best clubs and parties around the world, highlights including Cocoon (London), Circo Loco (London), We Love Sundays (Space, Ibiza), Module (Tokyo), Dama de Fera (Rio de Janiero), Propaganda (Moscow), Week-end (Berlin), Manumission (Ibiza) Nitsa & City Hall (Barcelona), Showcase (Paris), Morphine (Hamburg), and in UK Fabric, The End, Bugged Out!, Electric Chair, Basics, Asylum, Boutique, Superfreq, Faith, and Global Gathering, V Festival, Bestival, Hi-Fi, Latitude, Tales of The Jackalope, Bloom and Isle of Wight festivals.
♦ Amir Alexander (Vanguard Sound I US)
A dj since '93. A producer since '98. A true student of the music/culture. Amir founded Vanguard Sound in February 2006. After making his presence felt in the Chicago club scene via a meteoric rise culminating a Dj watch feature in Chicago’s 5 magazine, he completely disappeared and went beneath the underground to focus solely on advancing his production skills.
Soon after linking up with G. Marcell and Hakim Murphy he began to release gritty tracks that have been charted and played by underground Dj’s world wide. His fourth release was the sleeper classic “Experience ep” a 4 tracker with Amir on side a, and G. Marcell on side b. Encouraged by the feedback, Amir then submitted tracks to New York city’s Plan B Recordings. The rest is history as they say.......
Recording under the name Amir Alexander and the pseudonym Guerrilla Soul! this cat strives to bring a raw and gritty modern spin on classic Detroit, Chicago, and New York underground sounds.
