Biografie
Bjorn Goud 10-08-1967 Born in Mijdrecht, the Netherlands.
Besides my work as Photographer and Photoshopper, I spend most of my time making music. I was always into loud music, like metal, rap, but really enjoy cinematic, classical and ambient pieces as well. All music that flows appeals to me.
At Arts school I became familiar with electronic instruments, through fellow students. This was 25 years ago: I then got equipment, a sampler and a synth, a beatbox and a mixing desk and never looked back.
I have always been in pursuit of harmonies and positive progressions, and I was amazed by the sound and the atmosphere at parties. To be part of this became my drive. Ever since the House scene exploded in 1987, I have tried to make music that I wanted to hear at raves.
I worked with several people, but it never bloomed, with the exception of three released experimental tracks. When i was looking for a studio to edit and master some tracks, i met Ivo. Since then we are producing music together, sounding the way we want it to sound.
We like progressive captivating and storytelling tracks, with depth and soundscapes, layers of two sounds that make that third sound that doesn't really exists, only between the ears. Frequencies are the core of everything, and we love it.
I like to see music as a logical array of sequencing vibrations, which are connected and strengthen or weaken each other. Ivo is the more intuitive one, more likely to just do and see what happens, which is great for unexpected and unpredictable events. Together we turn these two approaches into fresh huge sounding music, which we both miss a bit in today's dance music.
And off course, the origins of house will always be there. Acid house and trance were and are ultimately mesmerizing since day one, and always will be!
Ivo van Groningen 23-01-1973 Born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands.
Besides my work as free-lance audio technician and studio owner, I spend most of my time making music. When I was 18 i went to a business school in Amsterdam, with the intention to take over our family business. We owned a duplication facility for audio cassettes.
At that time I was introduced to the house scene in Amsterdam and got the house virus instantly. The early 90's had a great impact and I just wanted to be a part of that.
When I met Bjorn, he was already a few years into making House Music. I helped him produce some work in our studio. It was my chance to learn how to make House Music. Bjorn let me look over his shoulder and I did. We invested all our time and money in gear and a studio.
Since then we make beats, sometimes about 4 times in the week till 3 or 4 o'clock in the morning. I remember during a winter night, the heating was off, the displays of our synths where barely visible due to the cold.. But we made our beats..
We experimented a lot with mixing 2 of our own tracks together, sometimes a magical thing happened. The two tracks clicked and created harmonics and melodies, that were not audible on either track. Like one and one is 3. It melted into one massive sound. That musical density is what we try to create.
In the beginning we where maybe a bit to critical about our music and did not really spend effort in to getting it out into the world.
But we kept on going, making beats, trying to preserve and include the euphoric musical feelings from the beginning of the Acid House era. Guard it!
