Biografie
Downtown District is a young, energetic, crappy punkrock band from the Netherlands. Established on June 15th, 2017 and inspired by bands like Green Day, Blink-182 and Sum 41. But more with the sound of a dying walrus.
After the release of their selftitled debutalbum in April 2018, the band started to gain more fame and publicity.
YouTuber Collin Furze used the song 'Anti-Social Syndrome' in his video, which has millions of views as to this date. This resulted in thousands of streams for the band's debutalbum and hundreds of new listeners worldwide.
At the end of 2018, Downtown District took an even bigger step into the right direction by winning the first edition of the 'Nobel Award'. Previously known as the 'Grote Prijs van de Bollenstreek'. In February 2019 the band played a show during the Pinguin Radio 30x20 festival on the mainstage of the legedary Paradiso. In March 2019 the band got asked to do the 3FM 'Elevator Pitch' and won. The band played two songs in the 3FM live studio, and is played regulary on this station.
The power of Downtown District is within the live performances. "The delicious upbeat punksound, which the band describes as 'crappy punkrock with the sound of a dying walrus', results in awesome perfomances. The band's inexhaustible enthusiasm, on the other hand, was immortal. They play poppunk like they have invented it and everyone's going wild. Punk is dead? No way!'' – 3voor12 Leiden
Wild drums, sharp riffs, rude lyrics and sex jokes is what you also can expect during a liveshow from these ambitious dipshits.
