Tegenlicht: 2010: Buigen of barsten

Documentaire. Is het economisch herstel inderdaad ingezet of moet het ergste nog komen? Gaan we in 2010 alsnog werk maken van fundamentele economische hervormingen of zijn we vooral hard op weg naar een volgende crisis? Voor antwoorden gingen we langs bij investeerders en economen. De Amerikaanse superinvesteerder Jim Rogers ziet Azië als grote winnaar van de crisis. Over Europa is hij minder optimistisch, zijn advies aan ons: wordt boer! Marc Faber, beleggingsgoeroe en schrijver van het Gloom, Boom & Doom Report legt uit hoe de politieke reactie op de crisis onvermijdelijk tot oorlog en conflict zal leiden. Zowel Rogers als Faber zijn ervan overtuigd dat het vrijemarktkapitalisme ons uit de crisis kan leiden. Ann Pettifor van de New Economics Foundation pleit juist voor een 'nieuwe economie' waarin de overheid het voortouw neemt en het financieel systeem sterk gereguleerd en dienstbaar is.
