Biografie
Montreal based American songwriter Jaren happened into the dance music industry in 2007 after meeting husband/dj/producer Matt Cerf in Los Angeles. There she penned trance hits such as 'Light The Skies', 'You Never Said', 'Man On The Run', and 'Unforgivable', her single with five time winner of DJMag's #1 DJ in the world, Armin Van Buuren. The success came as a bit of a shock. "I grew up listening to country and blues and I didn't even know trance music existed until 2005," she laughs. During her time in LA she also wrote and recorded her own folk album titled Fixin' It Upright, which was produced by Sweden's finest, Alar Suurna (Roxette) & Jerker Eklund.
Since her start in the dance music industry, she has been nominated three times for IDMAs (International Dance Music Awards) for her work with trance partners Matt Cerf & Shawn Mitiska. She toured with Armin Van Buuren in 2008, then worldwide on her own in 2009.
In 2010 she grabbed at the chance to work with chill-out legend Rhys Fulber on his Conjure One album titled Exilarch. She penned two songs for the album - 'Zephyr' and 'The Distance', the latter of which was featured in the short film 'Engla'.
Since 2010 she has focused her time on writing for other artists in various genres. More recently she has been gaining momentum both as a writer and artist under her alias, Fenja, with tracks like 'Lookin' For Love' with Nilson & The 8th Note and 'This Is My Goodbye' with Antoine Clamaran, which reached the #2 spot on the Billboard Hot Club Plays chart for three consecutive weeks. Then, in February of 2014, she co-wrote 'We Are Gold' as part of the CBC's 'Fresh Tracks' which debuted at the Olympics.
Currently she is writing songs in all genres and styles for various major label projects with partners Seb LeFebvre (Simple Plan), and Matt Cerf.
