Meet a multitalent: an outrageous nightlife celebrity, host of notorious club events, turning his hand to dj-ing, vj-ing and performing in equal parts. He is 'a somebody who somebody should make a somebody everywhere else.' His name is Martin Duvall, above all an outstanding visual artist, photographer and vj.
In an interview during his time in the jury of tv show F.A.B.S he stated: "I dare to do what others cannot. My only stipulation was that I could be myself in the show. Television producers
always think in a certain format and you have to fit into that format. In my case, they know better, so I'm left totally free in what I say!"
He was also a renowned music video director, for dance acts such as the Party Animals. As artist Martin de Waal, he is a well-respected artist inside the international art community whose challenging work examines issues as media representation of gender and race. Torch Gallery held a retrospective on his work in photography and video.
He released recordings as his self written Living On Warhol and a cover of the Flirts' Temptation.
He performed with the Belgian electro pop band Vive la Fête on Pinkpop and won a Golden Gnome Award for Best Dressed DJ the same year.
He works extensively as a guest lecturer in art and fashion. His art project In Your Face, a film about plastic surgery, was shown in the Vegas Gallery in London. The lead role is played by de Waal himself - which is no surprise!
