His inclusion of both Mandarin and English lyrics reflects his dual identity and aim to bridge the gap between the two cultures he calls home, without limiting to either. Amidst China’s nationcowide ban on “hip hop culture” where few indie artists thrive, Bohan continues to succeed independently on his own terms, sharing the experience with Mass Appeal, South China Morning Post, DJ Booth, and more.
Bohan’s most recent EP The Prince was released October 2019, including a lead single and music video for Money Game ft. Vava, China’s #1 female rapper. In March of 2019, Bohan released YAODE EP to critical acclaim from Hypebeast, Bandwagon and more. He embarked on an 8-city China tour, made several festival appearances, and played headline shows in Hong Kong and Singapore. Bohan also participated in MTV Asia’s inaugural YO! MTV Raps series, including cyphers and original interviews.
Bohan kicked off 2018 with the critically acclaimed release of OVERSEAS, his most personal project yet, dissecting his experience as a multi-hyphenate, international artist building bridges and breaking down boundaries. He concluded 2018 with a performance at famed Hong Kong festival Clockenflap and also released singles produced by famed UK radio presenter and DJ Benji B.
In 2017, Bohan released his famed JALA EP, premiered by The FADER and 88rising, followed by the Fall JALA Tour, hitting 16 cities in China. JALA catapulted Bohan into recognition in the border hip-hop community, earning placements on Spotify’s Fresh Finds, Apple Music’s Hot Tracks, and critical praise from REVOLT, interviews on Bandcamp Daily, Magnetic Mag and a Fendi-sponsored Boiler Room performance during New York Fashion Week alongside Migos, 21 Savage and Metro Boomin.
