With ‘it feels good to hate u,’ Mix puts a contemporary spin on a long tradition of street photography by blurring the line between reality and fiction. The series feature a menacing blend of candid shots and highly manipulated photographs, tied by a pensive
fixation with motifs of profound solitude and all-consuming cynicism.
Born and raised in provincial Bulgaria, Mix is an Amsterdam-based artist whose work explores themes of alienation, resentment, and urban melancholy. His first encounter with visual arts came as an after school fascination with mid-2000s meme culture, DeviantArt, and photoshopping. It wasn’t until 2017 when Mix picked up his first camera, which he still uses to this day.
What began as an escape from the tedium of his 9-to-5 job has since morphed into a deep infatuation with contemporary photography, underscored by his Eastern European sense of aesthetics and obsession with surrealism. Check out his work at
