Biografie
At the age of 12, Twieq could not foresee that the buying of his first taperecorder would infect the rest of his life. First listening to all kinds of music and compiling his own tapes with favorite tracks and then the mid-eighties where there. The taperecorder got replaced by a stereo and the first records were bought. It was the time of "New Wave" and like so many others Twieq's earliest electronic influences lie there. Bands like Fad Gadget, Executive Slacks, Cassandra Complex, Skinny Puppie, and so on created the sound he liked the most. The years went by and Twieq discovered Punk and Hardcore. It was the intensity of that music that charmed him the most, an intensity he often recognises at technoparties.
Being so obsessed with the music, he even organised punk gigs with a few companions. Not without result, 'cos they managed to get the former BRT to come and film some of their events….. After a while however, he grew out of the punk thing, and got into what then was called "garage/grunge". Again he wandered through the record shops to find the oddities and the hidden treasures of the genre. 'Cos although the genre changed every few years, the search for something else, something not mainstream, the quest for the unexpected pearl didn't change and would remain a constance throughout his further musical steps.
And then, somewhere around 91/92, the most powerful of the sonic viruses got a hold of him: he discovered house! First goa and trance, then acid joined and it didn't took long before techno made his entrance. Immediately, he knew, he wanted to deejay himself. His university studies however caused some delay, but finally, he started deejaying. Eager to spread the music he liked however, he also started organizing parties. He is the brain behind "Technomite", a concept he started with a few soulmates and that stood the test of time as Technomite counts allready more ten twenty years of partying. During those years, many national and international dj's hit the technomite decks. A few examples: Miss Djax, Oscar Mulero, Funk d' Void, Secret Cinema, A.Paul, Flug, Marco Bailey, Q'Hey, Ben Long, Mark EG, CJ Bolland, Misjah, Mark Broom, Bas Mooy, and so on and so on.
Recently, he also got involved in Pure Techno...another partyconcept that puts quality techno on the forefront.
Twieq has played in numerous venues such as Silo Leuven, Zazou Lier, Petrol Antwerpen, Zoo Hasselt, a few times in France and doin' so, he showed many times that good techno doesn't necessarily need to come from big names. Small parties, big parties, Twieq does not mind, he allways gives the best from himself and manages to get the people dancing. He's a freak, being passionately occupied with music and constantly searching for that one beat that makes you shiver.
His main style can be best described as uplifting techno. Playing techno most of the time however, does not mean he can't have fun doin' acid sets for example. On the contrary, techno bein' his main love, acid has a place in his heart too
"Open mind for different styles" is his motto.
