Biografie
Adventurous, innovative techno and house for seasoned music heads
In the late 90's, Sydney-born Joe Foxton was inspired to buy a set of Technics 1200s after being dragged to a techno show by some friends. There he heard this music on a huge soundsystem for the first time and was blown away by its raw power and depth. He began obsessively digging for records to play ay whatever gigs he could get until moving to New York City in 2001 where his passion for DJing would grow deep and lasting roots. The more time spent behind the decks, the deeper he would dig for special tracks that tell a story, as his tastes evolved in an ever more exploratory direction.
Fast forward to 2014, after throwing some underground popups around NYC, he launched the 'Fiction' event series alongside fellow DJ Steve Graham, with a focus on musical storytellers. The 'Fiction Sunset Cruise' boat parties quickly become a summer staple of the New York underground scene. A year later the two teamed up with Gilles Wasserman and Irina Kotik to launch their fast-growing online music magazine 'Fiction Lab' (now 'Delayed'). He also founded 'Frisson', an event series dedicated to shining the spotlight to Brooklyn's most impressive woman and LGBTQ techno artists such as Remove Hyphen, Mary Yuzovskaya, Lauren Ritter, Connie, Cry Baby, and Maysamm.
While in NYC, Joe delivered his musical adventures at all the city's underground hotpsots from Output's Panther Room, Analog BKNY, The Brooklyn Mirage, Good Room, and House of Yes, while holding down a four year residency at TBA Brooklyn. In 2017 a set at New York's much-loved Elements Festival put him on the map as one to watch as did a gig at Melbourne's iconic Revolver Upstairs. In June 2018 he played alongside Move D, Omar S, R100, and Eric Cloutier at the infamous ://about-blank in Berlin. He has shared the decks with some of the industry's finest including Ida Engberg, Job Jobse, Ripperton, Ruede Hagelstein, Davis, Baikal, The Drifter, and Sammy Dee.
In 2019 he moved to Amsterdam to open a new chapter. He recently launched a new residency alongside Nicky Elisabeth (Kompakt) at Oosterbar, an intimate underground club with a stellar Danley sound system. He's now working on some original productions from his home studio in De Pijp.
