With one hand in the light and one hand in the dark, DJ Dark Mark's unrivaled versatility in the Arizona dance music scene has united dancers of both spooky and friendly beats under the same umbrella. Beginning in the late 2000s at the elegant Club Palazzo for the weekly industrial night Tranzylvania, he spun hard-hitting industrial dance music to crowds of 200 or more as they stomped about in knee-high boots, striped corsets, and ghastly makeup. His zest for the dark beats of The Prodigy, Combichrist, Icon of Coil, and Skrillex later cross-pollinated with upbeat electro jams revered by dancers worldwide, culminating in a showcase of a seamless mix of major and minor key dance music at the monthly dance event Cupcake! a Monthly Fetish-Themed Dance Party. This was his first electro-industrial crossover gig, and he has followed the trajectory ever since.
In 2015, Dark Mark was spinning high-adrenaline industrial in the back room of Club DWNTWN during his residency at the monthly dark dance event HÄXAN, a Doomed Disco-Tech. Production company Spellbound Burlesque has recently acquired him as the musical tastemaker for their shows at Club Palazzo, where renowned burlesque artists, both local and international, perform their most stylish and provocative routines. Mixing between these conflicting polarities is where Dark Mark is most comfortable, expanding upon an already diverse audience and introducing partygoers to new forms of dance music they would have never otherwise explored. He has recently been added to the resident list of DJ's for CUPCAKE!.
In 2016, he started to regularly play at Zuma House Tuesday's on mill ave in a rotation of a number of local DJ's, has opened up for acts including Black Tiger Sex Machine, Evol Intent, Kutski, Trollphace, Never Say Die Tour among others and on August 20 2016, Dark Mark competed in the Relentless Beats/Global Dance 15 Minutes of Fame Competition at the Monarch Theater, where he mixed and matched distorted dark bass thrashings with polished EDM luster, landing him first place out of 148 entries in which Mark was added to the Global Dance Festival 2016 to play on the main stage alongside Bassnectar, Galantis, Nero and more.
Dark Mark's brand of hard bass dance music is quickly warping the playing field for present and future Arizona DJs and dance clubs, with his third single just released named "Jigsaw" The beats keep on coming. 2017 is in store for even bigger surprises.
