Biografie
DJ Sophie, full name Sophie van Riel, was born in Etten-Leur oktober 1975, with a Belgian mother and a Dutch father. In 2008 she left Brabant to settle herself in Haarlem.
In the beginning of the 90's, young Sophie got into the new sound of House music and was instantly caught. She started to collect vinyl and wanted to become a DJ. In the middle of the 90's she played many styles of dance music mainly on private parties. In the early 2000's Sophie took a short break in her carreer.
In 2008 Sophie came back and more then ever determined to become as DJ. It is her passion, her life. Nowadays she's playing CD's/Digital and has developed her own style of sound. With this fully matured style Sophie is more fanatic than before.
The underground sound from the 90's is the inspiration for her steady sound.
Depending on the events and parties she's at, Sophie plays a (deep) House / Nu Disco / Tech-House / Techno oriented sound. It is a mix of quality underground sounds with a warm feel, stunning compositions and hypnotic grooves. She play not mainstream music or trance/hardcore. Sophie using her alter ego "Miss So-Riel" when she play pure and harder techno sounds.
Sophie performed at many local clubs and party's, on the beach,also she played for FM radio stations or internet radio. Monthly she host a program by Pure Radio and she is one the dj's for "The Bus" and resident at the Club Underground party's for LGU (Leiden Goes Underground).
In march 2010 Sophie won a nationale Female DJ Contest in Amsterdam, and won a residentie at Amnesia on Kreta for the summer in 2010.
Today Sophie is more busy and seriously than before and will more play big techno and doing international gigs.
