Our guest DJ this weekend on Stream the Scene is the wonderful Ray Mang. A trailblazer of what would become known as Nu Disco, his discography spans a quarter of a century and would impress even the harshest of musical snobs.
Releasing his first productions on the legendary and now highly collectable Noid Records - run by the equally legendary Idjut Boys - placed him alongside the likes of Harvey, Faze Action and other movers and shakers who had a massive influence on the dance music being produced globally at that time. It’s fair to assume that the incredibly popular music that came out of Norway in the wake of these records would have been influenced by what was happening over here. Without the likes of Ray Mang perhaps we’d never have heard Todd Terje or Prins Thomas?
